Re: Editorial: Taiwan in WHO?April 2007 Congratulations on yet another fine article about Taiwan and the hypocrisy of the UN in its dealings with Communist China. Where is the love of humanity and the saving of human life in all of this? Mike King,
The officers and members of Fil-Am Fil-Can Alliance a civic and apolitical group based in Richmond, BC, supports very strongly, the position being undertaken by our government – as mentioned by Steven Rheault-Kihara, embassy counselor for political and economic affairs in Manila – in joining the leaders of the international community in a representative clamor to finally put to an end to the spate of extra-judicial killings in the Philipines, and for urging the Arroyo government to enforce arrest, prosecutions and convictions of perpetrators in these crimes.
To my mind, these killings are reminiscent of the notorious and dreaded bloodthirsty “Neneta Unit” of the AFP in the 1950s whose victims were being killed and even beheaded by them under the then Captain Sebastian a.k.a. “Capitan Pugot” now a retired Lt. Col. in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
These killings and beheading were done in the towns of Aliaga and Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija. I witnessed this when it was done so until now it is still a sad part of my memory. I was born and grew up there.

I am neither Hindu nor Indo-Canadian – just a young Caucasian Canadian woman. The tragedy of Jassi transcends all religion or nationality and should not be ignored. I will be writing our country’s leaders about this issue, and encourage my fellow Canadians to do the same. Shaun Rathy,
