Award winning Asian chef joins Art Institute of Vancouver

Chef David Wong

Canada’s representative for the internationally renowned 2009 Bocuse d’Or competition in France is bringing his award-winning talents into the classroom.

The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Vancouver is proud to welcome Chef David Wong as a full-time chef instructor beginning in Jan 2008.

 Chef Wong returns to his native British Columbia after completing his now five-year tenure with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts as Executive Chef at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton, Alberta and previously as Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport. Since changing his career from social work to culinary arts, Chef Wong skyrocketed to the top of the culinary industry.

He has won gold medals in seven culinary competitions to date, including the 2005 Le Salon Culinaire Mondial in Basel, Switzerland in which he competed as a member of Culinary Team Canada.

 In 2009 the best chefs from 24 countries will compete in Lyon, France in one of the most demanding culinary competitions in the world, Bocuse d’Or.  Chef Wong won the opportunity to represent Canada in the prestigious Bocuse d’Or.
