The Scene: India Gate Restaurant opened it's door to Vancouver in 1978 making it the oldest Indian establishment in the dowtown core.

India Gate offers authentic Indian dishes at affordable prices.

Chefs at India Gate use five to seventeen locally bought spices in their creative dishes.

Appetizers of samosa, pakora, roti, combined with rice dishes, and daily lunch and dinner specials is plenty to suit anyone's tastes.

The tandoori mixed grill dinner is a must as is the thali dinner (lentil, salad, peas, cheese, rice and roti accompanied with naan bread).

Most dinners are accompanied with rice and or salad, but you can always add $2.00 to any meal for additional rice or salad.

Korma's are another popular dish, made of curry with coconut milk, almonds with rice, and papadam.

Their drink menu is as extensive as their food menu with a wide variety of liquor, wine, domestic and import beer.

Many passer-byers often stop in for a cold Granville Island Lager to quench their thirst.

A children's menu is also available for ages fourteen years and under.

Items on the menu include tandoori chicken and veggie or meat samosas. Ice cream is included with each of these meals.

Desserts at India Gate include kulfi, their homemade ice-cream with pistachio and almonds, and gulab jaman, which is milk balls in sugar with rose water.
